• When: 3PM and 9PM ET everyday. HQ also throws in surprise games every now and again.

How it works

HQ Trivia is perhaps the most popular trivia app (Although it isn’t the only one. There are many HQ Trivia alternatives out there, like Swag IQ which I reviewed recently.)

More often than not you will be asked 12 questions with 10 seconds to answer each.

When you get all 12 right you win! Winners split the prize, generally $5,000.

On Sunday night they always have a big game worth at least $25,000.

They have also had games that are worth $300,000!

Every once in a while HQ will also do a winner take all type game.

These games go until there is only one player remaining and have gone as far as 25 or 30 questions.

These games are really cool, and profitable because you stand the chance to take home at least $5,000 all for yourself.

You can also further your chances of winning by getting friends and family to join.

When they do you will be given a life. These lives allow you to move on even if you get a question wrong.

How it works

How it works

A sports-only themed quiz that you must answer each question correctly.

When you do, whatever the prize is you split with the others who won.

You will accumulate money. Once you have over $5 you can request for it to be sent to your PayPal account.

This one is great for any sports fans to play and is a great way for them to win a little money.

Now there are a few sites that let you use your own money to gamble on trivia.

We don’t suggest them just because you can lose a ton of money in a very short amount of time.

We find it better to use these free apps before you do anything irrational.

Any tricks of the trade?

The questions that these games use get tough. I mean if they didn’t they would just be giving money away for nothing right?

But don’t worry…

There are a few tricks that can help you get through these games and have a better chance of winning.

The first thing we should mention is that it’s not really worth trying to look up the questions.

You don’t really have enough time to look up the correct answers, and even if you did, no one likes a cheater!

Secondly, staying focused is key. These are games that are won with one square foot of real estate: your brain. When you focus your energy on something, you brain can do wonderful things.

Another thing you can do to increase your odds of winning is getting friends or family to play with you.

How the games table works.

I’ve clearly done something terribly wrong if you can’t figure out what’s going on in the games table by simply looking at it. However, I’ve got some time on my hands so I’ll go ahead and explain the beautiful intricacies of it.

• Logo and game. The logo and name of the game. Pretty straightforward so far.
• Rating. The rating of the game based on 'fun-ness'. I explain how I roughly rate each game in a little more detail below.
• Type. Either 'luck or 'skill'. Some games are completely luck based, whereas some take some skill, like quiz games for example.
• Category. Could be 'TV', 'Sport', 'Quiz', 'Numbers' or something along those lines. I’ve tried to lump each game in to a category to help with sorting them and stuff.
• Max Win. The maximum amount of money you can win in one game. I sometimes have to estimate this though as the maximum win either changes or isn’t all that apparent.
• Available At. List of sites that offer the game. These are ordered alphabetically.
• Play Now! This will take you straight to the best site for that particular game.

You may also notice that the table rows have different colours depending on what category the game is in. I hope that proves to be more useful than annoying.

What makes a good casino game?

Good question, and you’ve kinda put me on the spot here. I’ve been rating the games based on my own personal opinion and preferences, but if I had to list the factors that make up a game’s overall rating they would most likely include:

• Fun-ness. I’m sure I’ve made up this word but I don’t care. This is basically how enjoyable the game is. Hopefully my sense of 'fun' is similar to most peoples’, otherwise my rating system is in desperate trouble.
• Addictiveness. Good games always make you want to have another go.
• Game speed. Not a huge factor, but slow games tend to be tedious. I like the games to flow well.
• Graphics. Again not a big deal, but the attractive games can add to the overall enjoyment.
• Maximum Win. If there is the opportunity to win big then it certainly adds to the excitement.
• Interactivity. If you can control lots of different aspects of the game then I like it. If you’re just clicking buttons and hoping for the best each time then I’m not impressed.
• The 'X' Factor. Only joking.

That just about covers it. If I think of any other factors that contribute to what makes a good online game for real money I’ll add them to the list.

Well, I’m not one to brag or anything but they’re quite possibly the best real money game reviews in the world.
